États-Unis – Comanche Nation et Otoe-Missouria Tribes continuent d’exploiter des casinos malgré une décision de justice

By - 12 Octobre 2020

Despite the state Supreme Court ruling there operating licences are invalid, the Comanche Nation and Otoe-Missouria Tribes plan to continue operating their casinos in Oklahoma.

L'État et les tribus sont en désaccord depuis des mois sur la question de savoir si le pacte existant expirerait le 1er janvier, les tribus prétendant qu'il serait renouvelé pour un mandat supplémentaire de 15 ans.

Attorney Rob Rosette, representing the tribes, said: “The compacts are valid. That’s our legal position. The Supreme Court of Oklahoma does not have jurisdiction over either one of these tribes.”

He added that only a federal court would have the authority to void the compacts.

The Oklahoma governor’s office said it couldn’t answer questions about the impact of the state Supreme Court ruling on Comanche and Otoe-Missouria gaming operations.

“We cannot answer those yet as those compacts are being litigated in federal court,” said Charlie Hannema, chief of communications for the governor’s office.
Federal lawsuits have been filed in Washington D.C. by the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw and Citizen Potawatomi Nations.

Comanche Nation Entertainment has five Oklahoma casinos: Comanche Nation Casino, Comanche Red River Hotel Casino, Comanche Spur Casino, Comanche Star Casino and the Comanche Nation Travel Plaza.

The Otoe-Missouria Tribe runs five casinos; the 7 Clans First Council Casino, the 7 Clans Paradise Casino, the 7 Clans Chilocco Gasino,
The 7 Clans Red Rock Gasino, and the 7 Clans Perry Casino.
